In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
Let’s write something more meaningful here. Let’s talk about watching livestreams.
I enjoy watching people play games since I was young. The first form of doing so was when I watched my parents play games on the old Nintendo console. It was mostly Super Mario, Tetris (my mum’s favourite), and Galaga.
Then my younger brother picked up gaming and I would watch him play; on the same Nintendo console, PC, and Playstation 1-2 consoles.
I also got hooked onto gaming but I could never be good at any games! Hahaha! I play for the fun. Hours of grinding are not for me because I have this thing called responsibilities from young. Also because I am too dumb but that is an entirely different conversation on its own.
If you are really passionate about gaming, you would not miss out on watching livestreams.
There is so much to learn! Even when you have no inkling of what the game is, you start to slowly pick up some concepts here and there.
For example, I have no clue as to what Mobile Legends is about when I first watched Davan livestream it on his Twitch channel: https://twitch.tv/rn_miracle.
My first impressions of the game include thinking that it is similar to Dota, it is not a game I would play, and holy crap were there so many things to pay attention to. I slowly figured out that while the scores reflected the kills each team gathered, the ultimate goal was to breach the enemy’s base and destroy their tower. Not sure if I am using the right terms because I have not had the chance to look up specifics but that was pretty much what I gathered.
After I watched another livestream he held, I realised that team members have different roles to play. I have not figured out fully what each role is about because again, I have not made the effort to look up specifics. I only managed to catch the terms mid lane, exp lane, jungler, tank, and marksman.
In another livestream, I started to realise that one’s attacks can help to gain gold. During the game, players could purchase buffs or attacks using the gold collected. I could be wrong but again, a quick lookup on the Internet would explain a lot. I also caught on to the term “ult/alt”. I have not figured out whether it refers to alternate or if it refers to ultimate, which I reckon is like the character’s finishing move, the one that gives the biggest blow. Wow, so many puns there that we should ignore.
As you can see, even without much knowledge about the game, I managed to gather key points about the it. This would then allow me to research the game more easily online. I am pretty sure I will be able to understand the game wholly by the end of my research if I ever get around to it.
So what more for those who are serious about the game? They are able to see how other players strategise, understanding why they choose to play a role in a certain way, and what duties does the role require the player to carry out in order for the team to win.
Especially for a competitive game like Mobile Legends, you get to check out your competition: they are quite likely to have their own stream channels. E-sports tournaments are still very much an “in” thing and is getting more traction in Singapore.
I am never gonna play a game professionally. Gonna stick to my casual gaming because life is hard enough. Hahaha!
Besides Twitch, there are also other channels of watching gameplays, pre-recorded or live. I have always been a fan of Helloween4545 on YouTube and Markiplier has entertained me numerous times as well.
Have fun watching or playing games, guys!
