I Ramble: 20 December 2016

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

19 December 2016 marks the 1st month that le boyfriend and I have been together. Applause! Yay! I overcame the trauma of being in a short-lived relationship! Woohoo!

But in all honesty, I have always felt that this is for forever. From the first time I met the man, I just knew, the force is strong with this one. Hehehe! I told him about my sentiment before; that there was this beguiling desire in me to get to know him better. Well, in that moment, how was I to know he was going to be my forever? Hehe!

Our story is pretty interesting, I must say because it truly is a story of you take it or you take it. Hehehe! Well, to begin with, in true Huda fashion, I was the one who proposed marriage to him after only a few weeks of knowing each other I think. It totally caught him off-guard and probably shocked the living lights out of him. He was singing to me a song he composed himself, which at that time, I felt that it was about me. I was so moved that I blurted out, “Will you just marry me already, seriously?” or something along that line. Hahaha! Yes, you can imagine how he must have felt! I didn’t even bother to say “I like you” at the very least. I simply cut through the chase and asked him to marry me.

And so of course, what was I expecting? I got rejected la. TET! Hahahaha! But here’s an interesting fact — le boyfriend revealed after confessing his feelings for me that the song was indeed inspired by me and was about me. DUNDUNDUN!

See, interesting, right? Hehehe! Like drama but better than the dramas on TV.

But yeah, it took 6 months and a week since our first meeting on 12 May 2016 before we got into a relationship on 19 November 2016.

In all honesty, 6 months is rather short for some people but to others it is just nice. Le boyfriend recounted to me before that it took him at least a year or two of talking and being friends with his previous partners before he went on to the next level with them.

So for him to be with me after only 6 months? Little old me? It truly is a wonder for me. He is always saying that he is very grateful towards me and that I saved him when really, I’m truly and deeply thankful to him for accepting me, flaws and all and in all fairness, he is the one who rescued me.

I was just thinking about how our relationship progressed from friendly gestures to romantic gestures when I remembered the time when the phone calls I received late at night were booty calls from someone…and how nice it is to now have that replaced with loving phone calls from le boyfriend.

I didn’t know what was love until he taught me. He taught me all that I never knew.

Truly, the past month has been remarkable. We both came into the relationship not expecting to go on many dates and not expecting to meet each other’s family members and relatives anytime soon. But lo and behold! We ended up going on a few dates, and there was an entire week whereby we met each other every two days. I even got to meet his aunt, whom I shall address here as Makcu and her foster sisters. As for le boyfriend, he met my cousin, Fahmi, my sister, Hidayah, and her beau, Zul, as I mentioned before in a previous post. He then met Fahmi’s sister, Fatimah as well as their domestic helper whom I address as Bibik at Fahmi’s concert. Fatimah managed to capture the moment for us hehe.

And then we just casually remarked that at the rate things were going, it looked like he was going to meet everyone else in my family except for my parents! Hahahaha!

Yet again, lo! Last Sunday night, which was just one day before our first month together, he met my parents over dinner. We were both quite surprised by how quickly things have progressed for us. Even the backstory for this is rather interesting too. We planned for him to meet my parents over a picnic brunch before having lunch together at Changi Village. We had to cancel because he couldn’t deliver his assigned parcels in time for it due to vehicular problems. So the plan changed to just the two of us having a humble dinner date at Changi Village that night but while I was waiting for him at the void deck, my parents and sis were heading out for dinner too and my mum told me to invite him out for dinner with them as well at Mr. Teh Tarik opposite Tampines West CC. Le boyfriend agreed to it and so in the end, we guess he was fated to meet my parents after all. Alhamdulillah. Do you guys get it now by what I meant earlier in the post as this relationship being a ‘you take it or you take it’ case? We are only capable of planning and putting in the effort to make things happen for us but the Almighty ultimately has the power over all things. His timing is always perfect, I must say. My parents have taken a liking to him. My brother asked them to describe le boyfriend to him and they replied, “He seems shy but talkative. He is very friendly and humble.”

And nope, le boyfriend has not known that yet because I haven’t had a chance to tell him. Hahahahaha! Well, there you go, Bee. They put in a good word for you to Hakim already! And Hakim seems quite impressed by you too.

Oh, and my mother, being the sneaky cheeky ninja spy she can be, she took a candid shot of the two of us and sent to our family LINE group chat with the caption “Dinner with future son-in-law @ Tea Tarik”. Yes, she spelt Mr. Teh Tarik that way but nvm. Let the woman express herself freely, it’s okay.

Le boyfriend was engrossed in a conversation with my dad about his job while I was taking out a packet of tissue, maybe. But damn, I look happy. Hahahaha!

Also, aye, yo, where else can you get yourself a girlfriend who can rock a headscarf with apache skulls motif?

I am too cool. Fact.

So yeah, such is our love story and our love life.

Just to wrap things up, here is a little blast from the past. Something from the first time we met and something from the day we worked together on our school play prior to his confession on that night. 🙂

I nicked that from le boyfriend’s YouTube channel. Also, I’m so sorry for killing our ears in advance. But I must say I love all of their reactions at the end. Hahahahaha! They were like, “WHERE DID THAT COME FROM, HUDA?!” Hahahahaha!

And He is Knower of all things. – MM
